The ‘Child Health Screening and Early Intervention Services ’programme under National Rural Health Mission initiated by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. It is a package of health services for all children from bir th to 18 years of age under the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) initiative. It aims at early detection and management of the 4Ds prevalent in children. These are Defects at Birth, Diseases in children, Deficiency conditions and Developmental Delays including Disabilities through district early intervention programme at district level. Training of the personnel will be given cascading training approach with standardized modules and tools. All children detected should be referred to the District Early Intervention Center for further management at the district or identified tertiary level health institution. If it is implemented in right earnest, it would yield rich dividends in protecting and promoting the health of our children.
