A Study to assess the knowledge regarding cataract among elderly people in Karattupalayam, Namakkal

The aim of the descriptive study is to assess the knowledge regarding cataract among elderly people in Karattupalaym, Namakkal. A sample of 30 elderly people were selected based on convenient sampling technique. The objectives of the study were to assess the knowledge regarding cataract among elderly people. The data were collected by semi structured interview schedule. The results showed that 22 (73%) elderly people had inadequate knowledge and 8(27%) had moderate knowledge. There is no significant relationship between knowledge level and selected socio demographic variables such as age, educational status, occupational status, gender, type of residence, type of family, family monthly income, marital status, dietary pattern and previous sources of information.
