Abstract

Most of the industrial companies are located out of the cities and far from hospitals and awareness regarding the AED usage among the industrial workers is limited. Using systematic random sampling technique and true experimental research design, this study aimed to assess the effectiveness of Capacity Building Programme on AED (Automated External Defibrillator) Management upon Knowledge and Competency among 80 Industrial Workers (40 in control and 40 in experimental group) at selected areas in Chennai. Data collection done using structured knowledge questionnaire and observation checklist from both the groups. The capacity building program on AED management was given to experimental group for 4 days in batches. The results revealed an improvement in the post knowledge score of the industrial workers compared to the pretest (t = 22.57)and posttest skill score compared to the pretest (t= 27.6) at p<0.001 level after the capacity building programme.
