Anemia Mukt Bharat (AMB) intensified national iron plus initiative (I-Nipi)

The Anemia Mukt Bharat strategy is being implemented in all villages in blocks of the districts through existing delivery platforms as envisaged in the National Iron Plus Initiative (NIPI) and Weekly Iron Folic Acid Supplementation (WIFS) programme Since 2018. Considering, the slow progress i.e. less than 1% per annum in reduction of anaemia from 2005 to 2015, the Government of India has launched the Anemia Mukt Bharat (AMB) strategy under the Prime Minister's Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nourishment (POSHAN) Abhiyaan and the targets has been set to reduce anaemia by 3% per year. Anemia Mukt Bharat initiative integrated with initiatives under National Health Mission (NHM) and POSHAN Abhiyaan would contribute in achieving the envisaged outcomes for the country's population.
