A true experimental Pre-test Post-test control group design was adopted to assess the effect of Jacobson's Progressive Muscle Relaxation (JPMR) technique on social anxiety among high school adolescents in a selected school of West Bengal. 180 adolescent students were selected by Stratified Random sampling technique and the level of social anxiety was assessed by Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale. Difference in the mean scores was found in the pre-test and post-test of experimental group (9.96) and the mean difference of the social anxiety score of post-tests in control group and experimental group was found (4.020). There was significant decrease seen in the post-test social anxiety scores of the adolescent students after administration of the JPMR Technique at 0.05 level of significance. There was no association found between the social anxiety scores and the selected demographic variables.
