Abstract

The world is facing a new global threat and an ongoing pandemic is corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Elderly are most vulnerable and susceptible to various mental health problems like fear, stress, depression and 37.1% of elderly are experiencing depression and anxiety. Most of the elderly with chronic disease had high level of depression and anxiety. COVID-19 based loneliness increases psychiatric symptoms among elderly. Overall, approximately one third elderly had higher psychological impact on COVID-19. In order to improve the psychological well-being of the elderly people, provide psychological support and adequate knowledge about virus transmission, prevention and health promotion measure to fight COVID-10 and mental health disorders.
