Munchausen syndrome is a rare type of mental disorder in which a patient pretends to be ill in order to gain sympathy and attention. It is difficult to diagnose because many other conditions must be ruled out first. A patient was presented with sick role symptoms in adolescent psychiatric clinic, she was diagnosed as Munchausen syndrome and treated with psychotherapy like cognitive behaviour therapy, individual counselling, family counselling and discharged after 40 days of admission.
