Transgender individuals are more likely to experience mental health challenges than the general population. Constant exposure to stigma and rejection contributes to higher rates of mental health issues among transgender individuals. They are often marginalized, facing discrimination in employment, education, health care and every day social interaction. This can foster feelings of loneliness and psychological distress. The present study was aimed to determine the level of loneliness and psychological distress among transgender in selected residential areas of Madurai. The present study findings revealed that, the majority 16(53.3%) of transgender had moderate degree of loneliness, 13(43.3%) had moderately high degree of loneliness and 1(3.3%) had high degree of loneliness. The study shows that, the majority 22(73.3%) of trans genders had mild distress, 5(16.5%) had no distress and 3(10%) had severe distress. The study findings reveal that there was a statistically significant positive correlation between the loneliness and psychological distress(r=0.2) at 0.05 level of significance.
