Job stress is a chronic disease caused by conditions in the work place that negatively affect an individual's performance and overall well-being of his body and mind, one or more of a host of physical and mental illnesses manifests job stress. The aim of the study was to assess the level of job stress among health care providers. A descriptive study was conducted in a mental health center, Chennai with the sample size of 30. Non probability purposive sampling technique was used to select the sample.. The tool used in the study was job stress inventory tool, and data was collected using self-administration method. The results revealed that among health care providers 16 (53.3%) had moderate level of job stress. Study concluded that stress among health care workers in present days is increasing. The hospital management should pay attention to solve their issues, such as inadequate staffs, lack of resources and co workers support. It may increase the job performance and stress free environment in the institution.
