Abstract

The substance abuse is one of the rapidly growing problems among adolescent due to lack of knowledge regarding its ill effects. The present study was conducted to assess the Effect of structured teaching programme on knowledge regarding the ill effects of alcoholism among college students in selected college at Puducherry. Study was conducted using Quasi experimental one group pretest and posttest design among 60 College students between 18 - 22 years of age who were selected using Convenient sampling at selected College Lawspet at Puducherry. Data was collected using structured self-administered questionnaire, which was prepared to evaluate the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge regarding the ill effects of alcoholism. Data collected was analyzed using Descriptive and inferential Statistics. The results revealed that there is significant improvement in knowledge among college students after structured teaching programme. Pamphlets were distributed to the students regarding ill effects of alcoholism.
