Abstract

The World Health Organization has declared COVID-19 a pandemic. The disease is caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and is highly contagious. These coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) guidelines focus specifically on patients with suspected or confirmed COVID-19.

The objective of the study is to assess the knowledgeregarding CPR for COVID 19 Patients among emergency nurses.

A survey approach and a cross sectional descriptive design was adopted for this study. An intensive review of literature and expert guidance laid the foundation for the development of tools such as background variables proforma and structured knowledge questionnaire on CPR for Covid 19 patients. After obtaining setting permission and consent of the research participants, 30 samples were selected by purposive sampling technique. The baseline data was collected on the background characteristics of nurses and knowledge was assessed by using predetermined and pretested tools through structured interview. The collected data were analyzed using the appropriate descriptive statistics such as mean and standard deviation and inferential statistics such as chi square test.

Most of the emergency nurses (76.66%) had moderately adequate level of knowledge and 21.21% of them had adequate knowledge regarding CPR for Covid 19 patients among emergency nurses.

The finding of study revealed that Emergency nurses had moderate level of knowledge in CPR for Covid 19 patients due to the level of experience.
