Road traffic accident is a sudden unexpected event or injury occurring without any forewarning or it is a sudden cause of death or an emergency of the victim.This study assessed the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on prevention of road traffic accidents among school children in a selected school at Ponneri. The quantative approach was used in this study. The design selected for this study was quasi-experimental design.The sample size of the present study was 30. The findings of the study concludes that, the structured teaching program was effective in terms of improved posttest mean knowledge score that is 73.3% of them had adequate level of knowledge, 26.7% of them had moderate level of knowledge
