The COVID-19 out break has been shown to increase level so fanxiety, depression, and stress among the general population. ESRD is one such chronic illness which needs Hemodialysis even during COVID 19 pandemic which is an additional stress and the patients would have adopted various coping methods like avoided thinking about the pandemic or seemed unsure of coping ways and those struggling to cope had significantly greater stress during COVID19 pandemic. The Objectives are to assess the level of stress and coping experienced by patients undergone hemodialysis and correlation and association between level of stress and coping experienced by patients who had undergone hemodialysis covid 19 pandemic with selected socio demographic variables. A descriptive cross sectional study was used. The study was conducted in Dialysis unit at PIMS in the month of June to July 2022. 50 Hemodialysis patients were selected using convenient sampling technique. Modified stress assessment scale and Modified coping inventory assessment scale was used to collect the data. For data analysis, Frequency and percentage distribution, Pearson’s Correlation Coefficient and Fisher’s exact test was used. Results showed that the overall level of stress was 5(10%) had low level of stress, 36(72%)had medium level of stress and 9(18%) had high level of stress. The overall level of coping was 44(88%) had medium level of coping and 6(12%)had high level of coping. r value was 0.223which shows that there is a significant weak positive correlation between the level of stress and coping. There was a significant association between the level of stress with the socio demographic variable such as age (p=0.017) and there was a significant association between the level of coping with socio demographic variable such as occupation(p=0.029). The study findings revealed that majority of the hemodialysis patient’s had medium level of stress and medium level of coping. Based on the statistical findings it is evident that there is a need for intervention regarding improvement of coping among hemodialysis patients during COVID 19 pandemic.
