Abstract

From the 1940 to the present, discover how cybercrimes and cyber security have developed. As cyber security and technology have evolved, so have criminals and “bad actors” who seek to exploit weaknesses in the system for personal gain or just to prove a point. This arms race has been going on since the 1950s. This study was aimed to assess the knowledge regarding cyber safety precautionary measures among first year UG students in Puducherry. Methodology: A quantitative study was performed from June 2022, using a self structured questionnaire among first year UG students studying in a selected college, Puducherry. Results: In this study, among 150 first year UG students, 77(51.3%) had moderately adequate level of knowledge, 70(46.7%) had inadequate level of knowledge and 3(2%) had adequate level of knowledge regarding cyber safety precautionary measures. The mean and standard deviation level of knowledge regarding cyber safety precautionary measures among first year UG students is (11.3±3.81) respectively. According to the findings, as there was moderate level of knowledge regarding cyber safety, strategies have to be developed by health professionals to design recommendations and to improve the knowledge of cyber safety among college students.
