This quantitative pre experimental one group pre-test post test design was used to evaluate the effectiveness of video assisted teaching on knowledge and practice regarding central venous catheter related blood stream infections and its prevention among staff Nurses in GEM Hospital at Coimbatore. A non probability convenient sampling technique was adopted to select the desired sample. The sample size was 60. A self administered questionnaire consisting of 30 questions was used assess the knowledge and observational check list consist of 12 steps used to assess the practice of staff nurse. Data analysis was done by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, paired t test and chi-square test. Results indicated that the staff nurses need to improve their knowledge and practice regarding central venous catheter infections and its prevention
