A pre-experimental posttest only design was conducted to assess the level of pain in older people during intravenous cannulation using Universal Pain assessment scales. Therapeutic massage was found to be effective in reducing pain during intravenous cannulation among older people. The intervention has no side effects and it improves client satisfaction. The fastest growing segment of the population in their advanced ages can benefit greatly from massage.
