Abstract

A quasi experimental post-test only with control group design was used to assess the effectiveness of sodium bicarbonate mouthwash and turmeric mouthwash to reduce oral mucositis among patients undergoing radiation therapy. The overall findings showed that there is a significant difference between post-test score of oral mucositis among patients undergoing radiation therapy in experimental group I, experimental group II and control group, and there is no significant difference between experimental group I and experimental group II. Hence it interpreted that both Sodium bicarbonate and turmeric mouth was found to be effective in reducing oral mucositis among patients undergoing radiation therapy but the turmeric mouthwash shows better result than sodium bicarbonate mouthwash.
