One of the major aspects of nursing care is the maintenance of skin integrity. Consistent planned interventions are crucial to ensure high quality care. A quasi experimental design with two group consisting of 60 patients with wound were selected to determine the effectiveness of unguentum papaya and betadine ointment on wound healing in selected hospitals of Kanya Kumari district. For the patients in papaya group the wound was cleaned with 0.9% normal saline and papaya paste was applied over the wound whereas in betadine group the wound was cleaned with 0.9% normal saline and betadine ointment was applied as per the size and surface area of the wound. Pre assessment was done on day 1 before the start of dressing and post wound assessment was done on day 4 and day 7 using modified wound assessment tool. The results showed that patients in papaya group had significant difference in wound healing than patients in betadine group.
