Abstract

A Descriptive study to assess the knowledge of ventilator associated pneumonia among staff nurses working in critical care unit at various private hospitals in Kanyakumari District. The study was conducted among 30 critical care nurses. A Self Developed tool was used to assess the Knowledge level among Staff Nurses. The results revealed that 8 (26.7%) of the nurses had adequate knowledge regarding VAP, 10 (33.3%) of the nurses had moderate knowledge regarding VAP and 12 (40%) of the nurses had inadequate knowledge regarding VAP. The study concludes that majority of the nursing population working in Critical Care Unit have inadequate knowledge regarding Ventilator Associated Pneumonia.
