Transgenders are one of the most vulnerable groups to develop HIV. Globally, a high proportion of transgenders are engaged in sex work. The aim of the study was to assess effectiveness of sexual health approach on knowledge, attitude, and expressed safe sex behavior regarding HIV/AIDS among Transgenders at welfare society, Vellore. A pre experimental design with one group pretest posttest was conducted using simple random technique among 50 transgenders. The tools used were questionnaire examining demographic and three parts of self administered questionnaires to assess knowledge, attitude, and expressed safe sex behavior. Sexual approach was given to the transgenders. In posttest (88%) of transgenders had adequate knowledge, mean score 20.6±2.72, (80%) had favourable attitude, with mean score 41±16.24, and (84%) had satisfactory expressed safe sex behavior and mean score 49.88±15.91. This study implies that, sexual health approach is an effective intervention to improve the Knowledge, attitude and expressed safe sex behavior regarding HIV/AIDS prevention.
