Knowledge, attitude and practice on prevention of oral cancer among adolescents

Abstract

Cancer is a major public health problem worldwide. The present study aimed to assess the knowledge, attitude and practice on prevention of oral cancer among adolescents residing at selected villages in Kirumambakkam Primary Health Centre Areas, Puducherry. A descriptive research design was adopted among 60 adolescents selected with non probability convenient sampling technique. The results revealed that 10% of adolescents had moderately adequate knowledge and 90% had inadequate knowledge. 13.3% adolescents had favorable attitude, 78.3% adolescents had moderately favorable attitude, 8.3% adolescents had unfavorable attitude. 6.7% adolescents had moderately adequate practice and 93.7% adolescents had inadequate practice regarding prevention of oral cancer.
