Abstract

Microbial Keratitis is a severe complication of corneal exposure in unconscious patients. A quasi experimental posttest only design was adopted to assess the effect of swimming goggles in the prevention of Keratitis among unconscious patients admitted in the critical care unit at Apollo Speciality Hospitals. Using purposive sampling technique 20 samples who met the sampling criteria were selected and were included into experimental and control group respectively. Data collection period extended for two months. The results revealed that the posttest mean scores of signs of Keratitis were 17 and 4 in the experimental and control groups. The ‘t ’test value was 21.01 significant at p < 0.01 and it was found that swimming goggles was effective in the prevention of Keratitis among unconscious patients.
