Abstract

Children spend most of the time of a day in school, during these hours children may seek medical attention in the school for various health problems or injuries. Until now, we do not have exact data and incidence of medical reporting on physical injures in school. Injuries in any form results in physical, psychological, social, and economic impact among school children. The aim of this study was to assess the effectiveness of First Aid Training Programme on knowledge regarding management of physical injuries of school children among Teachers. A pre-experimental one group pretest post test design was used to determine the knowledge on management of physical injuries of school children among 30 school teachers. Teachers were selected for the study using non-probability convenient sampling technique and data was collected using questionnaire method. Results revealed that majority 26 (87%) school teachers had adequate knowledge on management of physical injuries of school children following the First Aid Training Programme. There was a significant difference in the knowledge after the First Aid Training Programme. It was concluded that teachers ’knowledge has to be improved to manage the physical injuries until the medical help arrives to the school.
