Abstract

A 57 years old client got admitted in a hospital with the signs and symptomsof type II respiratory failure, peripheral neuropathy and skin changes. The other cardinal clinical features of this client weakness, numbness, lymphadenopathy, edema, abdominal distention, and hyperpigmentation. Imaging studies and laboratory investigations further exhibited hepatomegaly, splenomegaly, and endocrinopathy. He has been diagnosed to have POEMS disorder. POEMS, a rare clinical syndrome may be misdiagnosed clinically, because of the atypical nature of the disease. Hence, a clear clinical picture is necessary for identification and correct diagnosis of the case.
