Abstract

The aim of the study was to assess the effectiveness of back massage on pain, fatigue and quality of sleep among post operative cardiac surgery patients. A nonequivalent control group post test only design was adopted for the study and 60 post CABG patients(experimental group=30,control group=30) were selected using non probability purposive sampling technique. For the experimental group the investigator administered back massage twice a day for 3 consecutive days and the control group received routine hospital treatment. Post test was conducted for both groups using interview schedule. The results revealed that there was a statistically significant difference in the level of pain and quality of sleep at p < 0.05 level.
