Getting enough sleep is one of the necessities in life and it helps in making an individual smart and sharp over the span of their life time. The purpose of the study is to correlate the quality of sleep and perceived sleep distractors among cancer patients. A descriptive correlational design was used to conduct this study at Puducherry cancer trust hospital and research centre. 60 patients with cancer were selected through convenience sampling technique. A structured questionnaire was used to collect the data. The quality of sleep was measured by modified groningen sleep quality scale and sleep distractors by structured sleep distractors scale. The results showed that majority of the patients 53(88.33%) had poor quality of sleep and 32(53.33%) had high distractors. Correlation analysis proved that there is inverse correlation exists between sleep quality and perceived sleep distractors. The r value obtained was r= -0.4140. There is no significant association found between quality of sleep and perceived sleep distractors with the demographic and clinical variables except with the duration of sleep χ2= 7.175 and χ2=7.026 respectively at p value <0.05. This study recommends the need for assessment of quality of sleep and factors affecting sleep for patients with cancer.
