Abstract

Mentors and mentees are often part of the organization and focus on organizational goals, culture, career goals, career development advice and work-life balance. The aim of this study was to compare the impact of traditional vs virtual mentoring on employee motivation among nursing faculty. True experimental factorial design was used in this study. Convenience sampling technique was adopted to recruit the study subjects and enrolled in this study at Namakkal. The total sample size was 60 nursing faculty. Study subjects were assigned randomly to either experimental group I (n=30), or experimental group II (n=30). Nursing faculties were interviewed before intervention by assessing background variables. Employee motivation assessment tool was used to assess the level of motivation.

Experimental group I received traditional mentoring approach for the period of 3 months. Experimental group II received virtual mentoring approach through internet for the period of 3 months. Posttest was conducted by using the same assessment techniques in experimental group I and II. The study findings revealed that administration of virtual mentoring was quite effective compared to the traditional mentoring on employee motivation among nursing faculty.
