Abstract

Abuse being a societal problem is commonly wide spread among all age groups. Child abuse is a significant problem that affects the physical and mental development of the child. According to WHO (2020) 1750 children died due to abuse and predict that 1 in 7 children experience abuse every year. Due to lack of knowledge regarding child abuse many of them never report their abuse to the concerned person. However, the study aims to assess the effectiveness of planned teaching program on knowledge regarding child abuse among early adolescents. The researcher adopted an experimental research design by using simple random sampling technique and collected data from 30 adolescents from the school of Unnammalaikadai, Kanyakumari District. Majority 13(43.29%) had moderately adequate knowledge and 17(56.61%) had adequate knowledge. The study also shows that (66.7%) haven’t received any source of information regarding child abuse through any media and 53.3% of participants father had the bad habits of tobacco chewing.
