Knowledge of chemotherapeutic drug (CD) safe handling and administration is important for nurses involved in cancer therapy. Inadequate knowledge of the management of CD could cause environmental contamination and potential harm to patients and nurses. Quantitative experimental research with pre- experimental one group pre-test and post- test design was adopted; non-probability purposive sampling technique was utilized. The structured knowledge questionnaire was formulated and distributed among 30 nurses. The findings showed that 53.33% (16) subjects had inadequate level of knowledge, 46.67% (14) of subjects had moderate level of knowledge during pre-test. After the planned teaching program, the knowledge level had improved with 60% (18) subjects had adequate level of knowledge. The study concluded that after planned teaching programme there was an increase in knowledge regarding safe handling and administration of Chemotherapeutic drugs among nurses which was statistically significant at p < 0.05.
