Abstract

Peer-assisted learning (PAL) is a common teaching and learning method in medical education worldwide. PAL activities provide a framework whereby students are permitted to practice and develop their healthcare and teaching skills.

To assess the effectiveness of Peer Assisted Learning on knowledge regarding organ donation among nursing students.

The research design of the present study was pre-experimental one group pretest post- test research design and convenient sampling technique was used to select the samples. The collected data were analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics.

Reveals that the majorities of the nursing students were in the age group of 18 - 20 yrs (93.3%), were females (73.7%), were Hindus (60%), and were in nuclear family (80%), fathers with primary education (40%). The paired ‘t’ value is 13.69. It shows that Peer Assisted Learning has enhanced the level of knowledge of the mentee.

The research findings shows that the peer Assisted Learning was effective Peer among the nursing students and found it an effective teaching strategy in a small group setting.
