The current study aims to assess the effectiveness of different teaching methods adopted for the nursing lectures.
To test the effectiveness of the different teaching strategies, two groups were selected using a two-stage cohort distribution-i.e. based on grade point average (GPA) and different teaching modalities. Group One was instructed using PowerPoint lecture slides and not encouraged to write down notes while taking class. Group Two was instructed using PowerPoint lecture slides and were encouraged to write down all the information on their personal notebooks. Thirty eight students have participated in this study. A multiple choice questionnaire was used to assess the students ’understanding toward the organ donation session. The descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data.
Final evaluation using the questionnaire revealed that student's in Group two had a better understanding of organ donation session (M= 16.57, SD= 1.55) than the other group (M= 15.15, SD=1.91) at p<.05 level.
Students ’note taking during the lecture (Group two) were found significant to improve the students ’understanding and learning in the nursing lectures with regard to organ donation session.
