Abstract

Achievement motivation is a vital driving force for attainment of excellence. Attributes such as readiness to sacrifice immediate goals for larger long term goals, optimism for success, risk taking characterizes the individual with high achievement motivation. A descriptive study to assess the academic performances in relation to achievement motivation was carried out among selected nursing college students. Survey was carried out among 98 first year BSc Nursing students and their subjects scores for Nursing foundation and psychology were extracted from the records. The findings indicated the high positive relationship between achievement motivation and academic marks.
