Abstract

Assertiveness is important for effective team building in nursing. The purpose of this descriptive study was to determine the assertiveness levels of nurses at work place.

The present study is a descriptive, cross sectional study conducted among nurses in work place. Convenient sampling technique was adopted for the selection of samples. The sample size was 88 nurses. Data collection was carried by using Assertiveness Checklist.

The findings showed that 24% of nurses had medium level of assertiveness and 76% of nurses had high level assertiveness.

Although level of Assertiveness was measured as high and medium, there is still a distance to great score. The study findings reveal the need for orienting nurses on various techniques of assertiveness. It is important to promote level of Assertiveness of nurses to reduce their stress at work environment and promote their job satisfaction.
