Abstract

One of the quality indicators in hospitals is patient safety. In this patient safety indicator, there are several things to note, one of which is effective communication: SBAR (Situation Background Assessment Recommendation). This research was done to explore deeply about the experience of nurses in implementing effective communication: SBAR in Flamboyant Room Pusri Palembang Hospital. Qualitative method with phenomenology approach was used for the research. The participants in the study were 8 nurses working in the inpatient wards of Flamboyan Pusri Hospital Palembang. The researcher's inferred 8 themes and with a sub theme. The theme formed is the response when carrying out the communication, the media used by the nurse, the nurse time to execute the communication, the structure, the impacts that arise when implementing the communication, the impact that arises when not implementing, the constraints faced by the nurse, and the solutions made by the nurse while facing obstacles. The study concludes that the effectiveness of SBAR communication between nurses and health workers is directly related to the patient.
