There is substantial evidence in literature for construct, assessment and study of relationship between Emotional Intelligence (EI) and other variables. The objectives of this study was to investigates the effectiveness of Emotional Intelligence training programme for nurses in a selected Quaternary Care Hospital and to ascertain the relationship between Emotional Intelligence, Stress, Resilience and Empathy among nurses. A total of 93 nurses were surveyed.67 nurses consented for the study, out of which 2 nurses opted out of the training programme due to emergency. Out of 67 nurses, those who first 27 highest scored stress level nurses were selected for the study. Out of 27, 2 nurses dropped out due to personal reasons. So total of 25 nurses were included for the study. The findings of the study revealed that 40 nurses had average and below average EI determined by Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire. Emotional Intelligence increased by 10% after the training programme. There was negative correlation between Emotional Intelligence and stress. There was a decrease in the level of stress by 43.8% after the training programme. Therefore, the Emotional Intelligence training programme is effective in enhancing the Emotional Intelligence of Nurses and is effective in reducing the level of stress.
