Assessment of knowledge regarding cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) Among Final Year Nursing Students At Selected College Of Nursing, Salem

Abstract

A descriptive study was done to assess the Knowledge regarding Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) among Final year nursing students at Selected College of Nursing, Salem. Among 50 students, most of the students 45 (90%) are in the age group of 19-21 years, 5 (10%) students are in age group of above 21 years. Most of the students 36 (72%) are female, 14 (28%) students are male. Most of the students 41 (82%) are Hindu, 4 (8%) students are Muslim, 4 (8%) students are Christian, 1 (2%) student are others. According to source of information 9 (18%) students gathered information from mass media, 24 (48%) students gathered information through health professionals, and 16 (32%) students from books. Based on medium of instruction 24 (48%) students are from Tamil medium, 26 (52%) students are from English medium. 4 (8%) students had Inadequate knowledge, 46 (92%) students had moderate knowledge and none of them had adequate knowledge regarding cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR). knowledge mean score was 14.02 ± 2.7 and mean percentage was 46.73. there was no significant association found between knowledge score regarding CPR and their selected demographic variables. This study concluded that most of the students had moderate knowledge.
