Abstract

The present study was conducted to assess the Sickness Absenteeism among Staff Nurses Engaging in Long Nursing Shift at Puducherry. The Quantitative Research approach with descriptive research design was adopted . A total of 60 Nurses who met the inclusion criteria were selected from the SMVMCH (Sri Manakula Vinayagar Nursing College and Hospital) at Puducherry by using purposive sample technique. Majority of the sickness absenteeism among staff nurses were occasional in 40 (66.7%), periodical in 20 (33.3%) and none were frequently absent. The mean value assessment of the sickness absenteeism among staff nurse engaging in long nursing shift at SMVMCH is 48 and standard deviation is 8.556.
