Abstract

The early adult women need the nurture of a caring environment, supported by a friendly, empathetic, and sensitive health system to help her to bloom and blossom into healthy womanhood. Major aim of the study is to determine the effectiveness of foot reflexology on premenstrual syndrome among early adult women at Sri Narayani College of Nursing, Vellore. A quantitative research approach with pre-experimental, one group pre test – post test design was adopted. 30 study participants were chosen based on pre menstrual syndrome rating scale by using purposive sampling technique. The mean pre test score of PMS was 29. The mean post test score of PMS was 5.76. The mean difference was 23.23. The computed ‘t’ value (t=16.81) was higher than the table value (t=2.042, p <0.05). This indicated that foot reflexology was effective in reducing pre menstrual syndrome. Chi square test revealed that educational status, BMI, age at menarche, type of menstrual flow is statistically significant at 5% (p<0.05) level.
