Abstract

Using a quantitative approach, quasi experimental, one group pre - test -post - test design, the study was undertaken to assess the effectiveness progressive muscle relaxation technique (PMRT) on lessening of anxiety regarding labour among primi antenatal mothers. The sample size comprised of 30 primi antenatal mothers. The mothers practiced the technique of Progressive Muscle Relaxation and Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale was used to assess anxiety regarding labour among mothers. The study findings showed that the level of anxiety among was high in pre-test (Mean = 66, SD = 16.6)which was reduced in post-test to Mean of 33, SD =7.54, which showed the effectiveness PMRT in reducing anxiety.
