Abstract

Major contributory factor for maternal mortality in under developing countries is pregnancy and child birth. The slogan for World Health Day 2005, “Making every mother & child count” reflects the reality that government and the community need to make the health of the women and children in higher priority. Every minute, at least one woman die from complications related to pregnancy & child birth that means 1,400 woman die every day, nearly half a million die every year. A Quasi experimental design was adopted for the present study. 60 primi gravida mothers were selected by using non probability purposive sampling technique. The data collection tool consists of structured questionnaire.

Level of knowledge on warning signs during pregnancy improved significantly (P<0.05), after structured teaching programme among the primi gravida mothers.
