Exercise plays a very important role in everyone’s life. Pregnancy is a precious period and memorable moment for every woman who faces physical and physiological changes. In pregnancy greater importance is given for Exercise as it brings changes in the women’s body anatomically and physiologically. Hence the knowledge about antenatal exercise is essential for all antenatal mothers.
To assess the effectiveness of video assisted teaching on knowledge regarding antenatal exercise among antenatal mothers.
Pre-experimental research design was carried out at Dadagapatti Urban Primary Health Center, Salem with 30 antenatal mothers. Structured questionnaire was used to assess the knowledge of the mothers.
The knowledge score on antenatal exercise in pre-test and post-test was 19.4 and 30.13 with the mean percentage of 48.5% and 75.32 % respectively and the video assisted teaching was highly significant (p<0.05). The study concluded that majority of the antenatal mothers were not aware about the antenatal exercises and videos can be used by the Nurse Midwives whenever possible to create awareness among the antenatal mothers.
