Abstract

Breast cancer is a disease where abnormal cells in the breast grow uncontrollably, forming tumors. While the exact cause of most breast cancers remains unknown, several factors can increase a person’s risk, including genetics, lifestyle choices, and environmental factors. In this Pre experimental research design, one group pre test-post test design was used. A total of 50 Reproductive age group women were selected. Small media campaign programme was performed for 2 weeks periods. Post test assessment was done after 7 days of intervention. In pretest, 43(86%) had inadequate level of knowledge, 4(8%) had moderate level of knowledge, 3(6%) had adequately knowledge. In the post test, 4(8%) had inadequate level of knowledge, 28(56%)moderate level of knowledge, 18(36%) had adequate knowledge. The pretest mean score of knowledge was 3.64, with SD 5.95 and the calculated t test value t= 1.33 (p>0.005) and the post test mean score of knowledge was 16.32 with SD 2.54. The calculated t test value t=5.15514 (p<0.05) shows statistically significant. Thus the investigator concludes Small media campaign increases the knowledge about breast cancer, thereby that the small media campaign could be consider as a effective method in increasing the knowledge among women in reproductive age.
