Effectiveness of Structured Teaching Programme on Knowledge and Attitude Regarding Menstrual Hygiene Among Adolescent Girls.

Menstrual health is a crucial part of the general health and it is a central feature of human development. A study was conducted to find the effectiveness of Structured Teaching Programme on Knowledge and Attitude regarding Menstrual Hygiene among adolescent girls at selected Nursing College, Salem. Quantitative research approach with pre-experimental one group pre-test and post-test design was adopted for the study in which the samples of 86 adolescent girls were chosen by non- probability convenient sampling technique. The study findings showed that the overall mean score of knowledge was 12.19± 3.28 with the mean percentage of 45.14% whereas in post-test, the mean knowledge score was 22.38 ±3.46 with the mean percentage of 84.70% and the calculated ‘t’ value was 31.43 which is higher than the table value 2.029 at 0.05 level of significance. The overall mean attitude score in pre test was 6.88 ± 0.84 with the mean percentage of 25.48% whereas in post-test, the mean score was 8.82 ± 0.94 with the mean percentage of 32.66% and the calculated ‘t’ value was 9.8 which is greater than the table value 2.029 at 0.01 level of significance. Hence, it is interpreted that implementation of Structured Teaching Programme on Menstrual Hygiene was highly effective in improving the knowledge and attitude of adolescent girls.
