The non stress test has become useful in antenatal surveillance because of wide applicability, ease of performance and relatively low cost. Many often in normal mothers with reactive fetus also, the test may be repeated because of non reactive results obtained in non stress test. This may be due to the effect of maternal positions and can be corrected by giving suitable position for the mother. (1) Assess the matemo-foetal biophysiological parameters among mothers in semi sitting and left lateral position during non stress test. (2) Compare the matemo-foetal biophysiological parameters among mothers in semi sitting and left lateral position during non stress test. Cross over study design was adopted forthe study. Sample size consisted of 30 antenatal mothers. In this study samples were assigned to semi sitting position first followed by left lateral position during the next time of procedure. Modified fischer scoring criteria was used to assess the foetal biophysiological parameters. The independent t-test showed that there was a significant difference in the maternal biophysiological parameters in semi sitting position compared to left lateral position at p< 0.05 level of significance. The independent t-test shows a highly significant difference in maternal level of comfort and foetal status in semi sitting position compared to left lateral position at p<0.001 level of significance. The study findings revealed that providing semi sitting position during non stress test produces more reactive test results within shorter duration and improved comfort.
