Abstract

Women face many social, economic and cultural barriers to have lifelong health. There is a strong correlation between illiteracy and women's health. The educational level and place of residence has direct role on morbidity and mortality of common folks. Women health issues have attained higher international visibility and renewed political commitment in recent decades. Targeted policies and programs have enabled women to lead healthy lives. However limited access to education or employment, high illiteracy rate and increasing poverty levels are making health improvements for women exceedingly difficult. The findings revealed that with regard to rural women the mean knowledge score was 9.42 with standard deviation of 3.04, the mean practice score was 2.78 with standard deviation of 2.16 the correlation co-efficient was (r=0.1315). The finding revealed that with regard to urban women the mean knowledge score was 11.48 with standard deviation of 3.82, the mean practice score was 2.48 with standard deviation of 2.17. The correlation co-efficient was (r=0.1554). There was a positive fair correlation between the level of knowledge and practice among rural and urban women.
