Morning sickness is a common experience, affecting 70–80% of all pregnant women. Women with severe nausea and vomiting during pregnancy diagnosed as hyperemesis gravidarum, if untreated may lead to significant maternal and fetal morbidity. The study aimed to determine the effectiveness of ginger extract on nausea and vomiting among Primigravida mothers.
Quantitative research, true experimental pre-test and post-test design was adopted. Random allocation of 3gms of ginger extract given twice a day for 07 days/01 week continually for study samples selected as per sampling criteria. Modified Rhodes Index of Nausea and Vomiting was used for assessing the level of nausea and vomiting.
The results showed the overall score of ‘'t ’test ignificant at 1% level of significance. Thus, ginger can be considered as a useful treatment option for women suffering from morning sickness provided they do not have allergic towards ginger and/or gastric problems.
