Descriptive survey approach was carried out to assess the incidence of breast crawl as a method of initiation of breast feeding following counseling and its impact on maternal outcome in mothers. By using purposive sampling technique, a group of 47 mothers who were assisted with vaginal deliveries and their new born were selected. The findings of the study revealed that only 60% of the babies achieved breast crawl within 30 minutes and 40% of the babies did not achieve breast crawl within 30 minutes. Physiological behavior related to breast crawl, 100% of babies achieved lip smacking, 87.2% babies achieved mouthing of fingers, 97.9% of babies achieved outpouring of fluid through mouth, 93% of babies achieved pushing forward to mother's abdomen with leg, 74.5% babies achieved bouncing the head to mother's chest, 72.3% of babies indentified finding the nipple, 76.6% of babies achieved to open their mouth, 63.8% babies made perfect placement of mouth, 59.6% of babies began to suck and 59.6% of babies achieved suckling. The findings also denoted there was significant difference observed in the mean maternal outcome related to breast crawl with respect to the physiological Para meters such areas duration of 3rd stage labor, blood loss within 2hours, fundal height at 1hr, 24hrs, 48hrs and 72hrs.
