Menstruation is a physiological phenomenon that is unique to females that begins in adolescence.
A Pre-experimental one group pre-test post-test design was used to study the effectiveness of STP. 50 adolescent school girls from St. Benedicts High School were selected by a non-probability purposive sampling method. A Structured interview schedule was used to elicit the baseline data and structured questionnaires were used to elicit the knowledge of adolescent school girls.
The study revealed that the obtained [t] value was 18.19, which was statistically significant at 0.05 level. There is a significant difference between pre-test and post-test knowledge regarding menstrual hygiene management among adolescent school girls.
A Structured teaching program was found to be an effective educative method for improving the knowledge of adolescent school girls regarding menstrual hygiene & its management.
