Abstract

The study was conducted to determine whether the perineal massage made any significant difference in reducing perineal outcomes in ante natal mothers in a selected hospital at Erode. A quasi-experimental post-test with control group design was used. The data were collected from 40 ante natal mothers of which 20 were in experimental group and 20 in control group selected by using simple random (lottery method) sampling technique. The total duration of the study was 30 days. Demographic variables and Observational checklist were used as tools for this study. The major findings of the study showed that in the experimental group, mean score percentage on overall levels of perineal outcomes before intervention was found to be 91%, after intervention there was a drastic reduction in the mean score to 47%. In control group, the mean score percentage on overall levels of perineal outcomes before intervention was found to be 91% and after intervention there was no much change in the mean score percentage (85%).
