Assessment of challenges in care of children among mothers of children with cerebral palsy and mentally retardation

In general, mothers take the responsibilities of disabled children and hence a study was undertaken to assess the challenges in care of children among mothers of cerebral palsy and mentally retarded children. The research approach was quantitative in nature and descriptive design was adopted. Non probability purposive sampling technique was used. Self administered structured questionnaire was distributed and self reporting regarding challenges while caring the children with Cerebral Palsy and Mental Retardation was obtained from the participants. The mean score of overall challenges of mothers in caring the child with Cerebral Palsy was 40.73±22.75 and the same for the mother of child with Mental Retardation was 40.50±20.32. All mothers had challenges in care of children with Cerebral Palsy and Mental Retardation.
